Direct answer
Feed Burnt Residue into the current Kinetic Press by dropping it from at least 25 blocks above the machine. A successful process produces Gold and Seed. Keep the drop column clear, provide space for both outputs, and use a Launcher to automate removal of material stuck at the top.
Field note
Prepare the correct input
Confirm that the material is Burnt Residue, not an old guide's Burnt Slag. Keep the input stream separate from unrelated solids and stop the feed while measuring or changing the drop column.
Build enough vertical clearance to observe where the material begins its fall and where it contacts the Press.
Field note
Meet the drop requirement
The current official page specifies a fall of 25 or more blocks. Measure from the actual release point rather than the top of a decorative shaft, and avoid shelves or material piles that interrupt the fall.
Test a small batch before connecting continuous input. Confirm both Gold and Seed can leave the processing area.
Field note
Clear a stopped Press
Check the top of the drop column, the fall path, the Press input, and both output areas. A Launcher can automate clearing unwanted material from the top, but it does not fix an undersized drop or blocked output.
Restore the feed slowly after clearing. If one batch works and continuous operation fails, the problem is likely capacity or material contamination rather than the basic recipe.

What this page does not claim
- Kinetic Slag Press, Burnt Slag, and Spore are preview-era terms excluded from current instructions.
- The 25-plus-block requirement should be refreshed if the machine is rebalanced.
